Event Details

Women directors may be grossly underrepresented in Hollywood, but women filmmakers are alive and working in independent film. Join us while we watch and discuss some groundbreaking films made by women.

On October 27, join the Phoenix Film Foundation as we bring to Phoenix The Fits.

THE FITS is a psychological portrait of 11-year-old Toni—a tomboy assimilating to a tight-knit dance team in Cincinnati’s West End. Enamored by the power and confidence of this strong community of girls, Toni eagerly absorbs routines, masters drills, and even pierces her own ears to fit in. When a mysterious outbreak of fainting spells plagues the team, Toni’s desire for acceptance is twisted.

The Fits was Written, Produced & Directed by Anna Rose Holmer. The film premiered at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival as part of the Venice Biennale Cinema College showcase and was an official selection of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

A hosted discussion will take place after the film.
