Nonprofit arts organizations represent more than a half billion dollars of economic activity in communities all across Arizona. And they help support a larger creative industries sector that employs more than 50,000 individuals statewide. Arts and culture contribute to local tourism, support job attraction efforts and contribute to excellence in education in our schools. Help SAVE ARTS in our schools
The results are in.
Study after expert study concludes arts education is the special ingredient helping our young people learn better in school. Do better at math. Perform better at complex, higher-order thinking tasks. Achieve better reading and language skills.
Yet more than 115,000 students in Arizona attend schools without any arts instruction in their classrooms, and a third lack music and visual arts taught to state standards.
Along with parents, teachers, school boards, school administrators and people like you, Arizona Citizens for the Arts is building a coalition to insure arts education is available in every Arizona school.
Our goal is to raise $6,000 in NEW contributions by June 30 to add to commitments we already have from others who believe as we do – Arts is essential to a quality education for our young people.
We’re launching our Arts Education Outreach and Advocacy Initiative so not one more school year goes by without a strong voice speaking up for arts education in our schools.
Join our coalition AND contribute today so we can reach our goal.
How can you help the arts in Arizona?
We need your voice all year long to support the Arizona Commission on the Arts, arts education in our schools and community-based arts and culture programs in Arizona cities and town – especially now that budget for the Arizona Commission on the Arts has been cut by $1 million for the Fiscal Year 16.
Visit our Legislative Action Center and sign up now to join our Voter Voice network so we can keep in touch with you when we need you to contact your state legislators about funding for the state Arts Commission and your members of Congress about federal funding that also benefits Arizona. You will receive timely updates all yearlong.
You may also learn more about where Arizona Citizens for the Arts stands on state funding for the arts by reviewing the 2015 Arts Congress Talking Points used by the 200 or so arts advocates who visited the Capitol in February for Arts Congress day.
